Syriac Language Department

The Syriac Department was established according to the recommendation of the Iraqi scientificassociation / the Syriac assembly. The approval and the authorization to openthe Syriac Department in the College of Languages/ University of  Baghdad  was approved the Government Council reference number 1228 in 2004 was issued , thus  the teaching started in  November 2004 .

 

The Department is graduating  translators and teaching staff specialized in Syriaic Language that  participate in teaching this language in highschools so as  to cultivate, develop and renovate the standard syriaclanguage with the  cooperation  of the Syriac Language assembly ofthe  Iraqi scientific association .

 

The Department accepts high school graduates.The formal teachinglanguage is the standard Syriac in both eastern and western accents and theinscription in both writing the alnastwary (eastern) and the alsartanl (western) .

The department offers the Bachelor's degree in the Syriac language and its culture.
